LEARN MORE ABOUT MYOTHERAPY!!!
Myotherapy is a physical therapy that provides expert assessment, treatment and management of the soft tissue structures within the body this includes muscles, tendons, fascia and ligaments. Muscles are made up of a muscle belly and tendons. The muscle belly is an elastic tissue that creates movement in the body when nerve impulses stimulate the muscle fibers to contract or lengthen. Tendons are non-elastic fibrous tissue that attaches the muscle belly to the bones. Facia is an opaque 'plastic wrap' type layer of connective tissue that surrounds muscles and other structures binding them into functional groups. Ligaments are non-elastic fibrous tissue; they connect bones together and strengthen joints.
The aim of myotherapy is to reduce or stop pain, restore and maintain optimal soft tissue function, to prevent injuries and accelerate healing. While the myotherapy treatments focus on the soft tissue system, they also provide benefits to the nervous, skeletal, circulatory and lymphatic systems.
